More Days Walk 2013

LOCATION: PPJ CYCLOPARK (Pontiac Region, Québec)

The PPJ acronym comes from the old Pontiac Pacific Junction railroad – The CYCLOPARK Trail starts at Wyman Road along Hwy 148 West, approximately 7-8 km past the Quyon’s junction. Parking is available at the start point.

DIRECTION:

From Champlain Bridge, turn left on Chemin d’Aylmer, which becomes Rue Principale, turn right on Chemin Eardley, which becomes Hwy 148 West. PPJ CYCLOPARK at Wyman Road is about 55 km from Champlain Bridge.

DATE AND START TIME:

August 24, 2013 at 9 AM from PPJ CYCLOPARK at Wyman Road, QC.

DISTANCE:

Approximately 55 km from Wyman Road to Fort Coulonge, QC. Day 1: from Wyman Road to halfway between Shawville, QC and Campbell’s Bay, QC. Day 2: from halfway between Shawville, QC and Campbell’s Bay, QC to Fort Coulonge, QC.

ACCOMMODATION:

Shawville Village Inn, 921 Hwy 148, Shawville, QC – (819) 647-6464 – Website www.shawvillevillageinn.ca – Reservation by either phone or email at info@shawvillevillageinn.ca (Linda Vowles), please refer to the Ottawa Voyageurs Walking Club – Ten (10) rooms have been blocked and participants must do their own booking anytime between now and July 24, 2013. The rooms’ rates are as follows: one bed Queen Size – $79.19 (Tax incl.) – two beds (Queen + single or two double beds) – $94.28 (Tax incl.). Cancellation can be done at anytime.

MEALS:

Bring a lunch for Saturday – Group Dinner at Café 349, 349 Main Street, Shawville, QC, around 7 PM. You can bring your own wine, wine cooler or beer but no other alcoholic beverages; the restaurant has only a corkage permit, and the charge is $5 to open a bottle of wine and $1 per beer or wine cooler. Breakfast and box lunch for Sunday will be at/from the same restaurant.

SUPPORT STAFF:

Chase cars with supplies will follow and meet the participants at every 5 km as feasible. They will transport the participants from the finish point of Day 1 to the motel and back to the same point on Day 2. They will also provide transportation for the car pick-up from start point after the walk on Day 1. The cars can stay at the motel all day on Sunday.
